Adjusting to College Life: Mapping the University

Don't be fooled when someone refers to the University of Texas as the Forty Acres - it is actually 423.5.  Fact: UT's nickname is 'The Forty Acres' Fact: UT is an incredibly large campus. It took me a few weeks of roaming around, walking into the wrong classrooms, and asking strangers for directions to navigate my way around UT. Another fact? It takes time to find your way around campus.
  • Arrive to campus early and walk through your schedule. Don't be afraid to find your exact classroom as well. I was a big nerd and sat in the seat that I eventually sat in on the first day.
  • Spend a day and get lost in your new town. Bring a friend and just walk around. Take the bus. Enter random buildings.
  • Don't worry about having to look at a map. If you are concerned about looking like a new student (which you are) take a picture on your phone and look at that.
No magic words of wisdom but the moment you know your way around-I swear you will feel marvelous

Get Lost,
Christle Clear
