Wise Words Wednesday: Strive

Wise Words Wednesday is all about sending some inspiration your way. Every Wednesday expect a quote to lift your spirits or get you thinking!

I love the spoken word, and I adore Miles Hodges and Carvens Lissaint, especially in this poem, Strive. If you have listened to anyone from Striver's Row, you might realize that the last few stanzas are shutouts to some glorious young poets. Take a few minutes and listen to their words, rhythms, and feelings on display.

During the tough weeks,
the ones where everyday feels like Monday morning,
The train ran local and you keep spilling your coffee
at the desk of a job that looks
nothing like the misspelled poster,
pinned to that dreamy first grade call when they asked you,
“What do you want to be when you grow up?"
Anything but a coward.

What do you strive towards?
